With her work she explores why she rejects herself in this life and how this is intrinsically intertwined in all she does. She studies what she has wondered since she was small and cannot articulate. She dissect herself, like a lab rabbit, finding a place to exist within.
She initiates projects with a focus on text and drawings. Scholten published a book in 2004 en 2021 and small publications in between. In 2008 she was invited by Dave Eggers to be a part of his exhibition 'Lots of things like this' at Apexart in New York - an exhibition about drawings + text + humor. Together with Corine Haitjema and Paul Faassen she initiated an European version called A Perfect Day - Tekenshow, at the Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam, 2012 and a second edition in 2020. They are currently working on a third edition.
Olga Scholten, graduated at the Royal Art Academy, 's-Hertogenbosch in 1995. She mainly focuses on corporate illustration and typography. In 2015 she recieved a Gold EdAward - European Design Award 2015 Corporate Illustrations for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. She has been collaborating with René Knip for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Joep van der Made for different kind of projects like the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen.
